New date & categories announced for 2020 Australian Drinks Awards

March 05, 2020

Excitement is building for the 2020 Australian Drinks Awards, with a new date, venue and additional categories announced for the event.

This year, the Australian Drinks Awards will be held on July 30 at The Ivy Ballroom.

The 509-square-metre ballroom was the stylish setting for the 2018 Australian Drinks Awards (pictured above) and will once again host the celebration.

Guests will enjoy an Australian-inspired menu, matched with beverages from our member companies.

Among the new awards added to the event this year will be one for innovation in non-alcoholic beverages.

The non-alcoholic beverage market is forecast to reach $1.25 trillion by 2024, with an annual growth rate of nearly 5%.

"Social moderation, health and wellness are becoming increasingly important to Australian consumers," said Drinks Association CEO Georgia Lennon.

"Feedback from our members about the rise of mindful drinking both locally and globally drove the decision to create an award that celebrates innovation in the non-alcoholic category."

The Australian Drinks Awards will also introduce a new Supplier award for Category Management.

This Award will recognise the critical competency of category management, including planning to meet category objectives, providing valuable insights, optimising category assortment and shelving.

All Supplier awards are determined by the Engagement Program facilitated by Advantage Australia.

The Drinks Association has been commissioning Advantage Australia for the past decade to conduct the annual survey, which provides members with favourability ratings and qualitative retailer feedback from the off trade, on premise, wholesale and outlets channels.

Tickets details for the 2020 Australian Drinks Awards will be announced shortly.
