This year's finalists for the Most Improved Gender Equity Award

June 21, 2022

There are four finalists for the 2022 Most Improved Gender Equity Award. Data shows that Campari, Taylors Wines, Moët Hennessy and Bacardi have made the most substantial gains in gender equity this past year and each of the businesses is now invited to make their submissions with judges to select the winning company prior to the Australian Drinks Awards on Thursday, 28 July in Sydney.

All four companies have demonstrated improvements in achieving equitable gender workplace composition at both an overall level and in leadership, through the implementation of policies and initiatives creating tangible change in their businesses.

It is the second year that the Most Improved Gender Equity Award has been presented to the company showing the most improvements in gender equity. Prior to 2021, the award was known as the Gender Equity Award. The decision was made to enhance the award for a few reasons:

• To reduce duplication between the Gender Equity Award and the Inclusive & Diverse Workplace Award
• To allow for greater distinction between the aforementioned awards
• To ensure a level playing field for large and small businesses so that organisations may be compared alongside each other.

To ascertain the finalists for the Most Improved Gender Equity Award, the Drinks Association uses data from the annual WGEA Report and/or submissions provided to the Drinks Association to form part of the Industry Scorecard and then identifies the shortlist.

The data which is used shows year on year movement of the organisation’s female representation in leadership, female representation in the overall workforce and a summary of policy changes undertaken by the businesses.

The Most Improved Gender Equity Award will be presented alongside the two other coveted Contribution to Industry awards: the Corporate Social Responsibility Award and the Inclusive & Diverse Workplace Award. Judging for these awards is also underway.

The Corporate Social Responsibility Award recognises organisation's unique initiatives and strategies demonstrating a commitment to socially responsible principles, such as responsible drinking, environmental sustainability or community, charity and corporate values. The award is sponsored by Endeavour Drinks Group.

Inclusive & Diverse Workplace Award: recognises organisations that prioritise diversity and recognise the value of an inclusive workplace for individuals and their organisations. The award is sponsored by Coles Liquor again this year.
