More than 900 Pernod Ricard employees in Australia celebrated the company's 9th annual ‘Responsib’ALL Day’ last week, the company's sustainability and responsibility initiative.

They joined 19,000 employees globally to bring ‘Good Times from a Good Place’ to their local communities. Employees from more than 85 countries will engage in more than 100 local community projects to show their commitment and contribution to society.

In Sydney, the team will support Strickland House in Vaucluse, alongside charity partner Conservation Volunteers Australia (CVA) and the National Parks & Wildlife Service (NPWS). Pernod Ricard will be the first large group to volunteer at Strickland House since the heritage-listed Harbourside estate was formally transferred to the NPWS to ensure its protection in perpetuity.

A second team of employees spent the day in Rosebery repurposing items including corks, wine bottles, wine barrels and pallets in partnership with Reverse Garbage Queensland, a not-for-profit co-operative that promotes sustainability and resource reuse.

The activities aligned to the day’s global theme ‘Circular Making’, which is one of the four pillars of the company’s 2030 Sustainability & Responsibility Roadmap - Nurturing Terroir, Valuing People, Circular Making and Responsible Hosting – and aligned to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The pillar fosters circularity across the business and encourages employees to reimagine the way they use, dispose and minimise waste.

Bryan Fry, Managing Director, Pernod Ricard Australia said: “We are proud to have the opportunity to participate in a unique global initiative that sees 19,000 team members spend the day giving back to their local communities.

“Our team look forward to this opportunity every year as it provides an opportunity to contribute towards creating a better world for future generations, and address sustainability issues our consumers and communities face.

“We’re particularly excited to be the first large group to help transform the surroundings of Strickland House to support better public access to the site and to learn how we can repurpose our own waste into useful items.”

As part of the business’ wider commitment Sustainability and Responsibility, Pernod Ricard also offers ‘Willing to Give’ to all employees across the Pacific, an initiative that provides every team member the opportunity to spend a working day to volunteer with a charity of choice.

Responsib'ALL Day a winner at the Australian Drinks Awards

Pernod Ricard Winemakers won the inaugural Corporate Responsibility Award at the 2018 Australian Drinks Awards for its Responsib’All Day initiative.

Efforts that contributed to the win included Pernod Ricard’s Sydney employees supporting the restoration of Cattai National Park in the Hawkesbury region, alongside charity partner Conservation Volunteers Australia. More than 200 Sydney team members took part in a range of activities, including planting trees, removing waste and weeds, as well as learning about the history of the site.

There are only a few weeks left to enter the Contribution to Industry category at the 2019 Australian Drinks Awards, which includes the Gender Equity Award, Inclusive & Diverse Workplace Award and the Corporate Social Responsibility Award.
