The 2025 annual Pride in Drinks Pride Month celebration was bigger, bolder and more fabulous than ever before.
Held at the iconic Burdekin Hotel in Sydney on Wednesday, 25 June, more than 120 people from across the drinks industry came together to celebrate, connect and ignite their curiosity. With rainbow flags flying and good vibes flowing, the venue was packed with friendly faces, industry peers and some seriously competitive trivia teams.
Hosting duties were flawlessly handled by Sydney’s Glitter King, KevinInTheCity, who brought the perfect mix of wit, glamour and charm to the evening. From clever banter to crowd-pleasing one-liners, Kevin kept the energy high and the crowd engaged.
The trivia itself was pride-themed, celebrating the history, culture and milestones of the LGBTQIA+ community. Keen to test your own pride knowledge? Here is a sample of questions asked on the night (answers at the end of the article!):
- Who was the first winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race?
- What year was the first Mardi Gras parade in Australia?
- What percentage of Drinks Association members have a dedicated LGBTQIA+ strategy and initiatives?
As the questions got tougher, the competition got tighter and by the end of the final round there were three teams tied for first place. The tiebreaker round came down to one simple question: What year was Carly Rae Jepsen’s hit song “Call Me Maybe” released? (The correct answer: 2011.)

It was the team from Asahi that clinched victory, earning serious bragging rights. The team from Lion claimed second, with Diageo rounding out the top three in third place. They took home prizes donated by Pernod Ricard, Brown Forman, Asahi, Campari, Diageo, Treasury Wine Estates, Diageo and CCEP.
The night was made even more festive thanks to the incredible generosity of our member companies. A huge thank you goes to Asahi, AVL, Pernod Ricard, Brown Forman, Diageo, Campari and CCEP who donated drinks for the evening.
Thanks to our prize and drinks sponsors, we donated $1000 to our event charity partner, Rainbow Families. They support and advocate for LGBTQIA+ parents and their families at every stage of their lives to empower, connect and celebrate them.
The success of the event is a true testament to the strength of our community and the ongoing commitment to building a more inclusive and supportive industry. Behind the scenes, the Pride in Drinks committee once again went above and beyond to organise a night that was not only fun and welcoming but also meaningful in its celebration of pride and progress. We look forward to more opportunities to come together as an industry to celebrate, connect and learn more about pride.
