With thousands of licensed venues operating across every state and territory, and licence activity shifting daily, keeping your business data accurate and current is no small undertaking. That's where the Drinks Association's National Liquor Licence and Retail Banner Database comes in.
A single source of truth
The database consolidates liquor licence information from every state and territory into one easy-to-access platform, updated daily. Whether you're a supplier managing customer master data, a wholesaler reconciling rebates, or a distributor mapping new territory, having reliable, current licence data in one place removes the guesswork – and the manual effort – from your processes.
Users can access the database via a user-friendly search interface with extensive filtering options, download the LicenceDetailSummary.csv file or connect via API for seamless integration into existing systems.
Always current, always comprehensive
Licence activity never stands still. New licences are granted, existing ones are transferred, suspended or surrendered, and ownership changes hands. Since 1 January this year, 988 new licenses have been added to the database. The Drinks Association's team monitors all of this activity continuously, ensuring the database reflects the latest picture at all times.
To help users stay across changes without having to search the database manually, a Weekly Licence Movement Report is published every Friday, alongside a Monthly Licence Count and a Monthly Banner Movement Report and Banner Count. For businesses that need to monitor specific types of changes, such as new additions, transfers or suspensions, these reports provide a reliable, structured update.
More than just licence data
Alongside licence details, the database includes the retail banner group associated with each applicable licence number. This makes it a practical tool for reconciling wholesaler claims and rebates, as well as keeping banner membership records accurate for both internal and external reporting.
Combined, the licence and banner data gives businesses a richer view of the market, one that supports smarter decisions across sales, operations, compliance and strategy.
Built for flexibility
No two businesses use the database in exactly the same way and it's designed with that in mind. Organisations can purchase access to the full national database or limit their subscription to specific states depending on their operational footprint. Subscriptions support unlimited users and the API connection capability means the data can feed directly into whatever systems your team already relies on – from ERP platforms to reporting tools like Tableau.
