How Treasury Wine Estates is bringing the Respect in Drinks Charter to life

Since the launch of the Respect in Drinks Charter in early 2025, each of the 19 signatories has embraced the commitments of the Charter. While the principles remain the same, the adoption for each company has been unique, reflecting their culture and existing frameworks.

For Treasury Wine Estates (TWE), the approach has been to embed the Respect in Drinks Charter across the DNA of the organisation. It is woven through everything from onboarding to leadership programs and site communications.

Intentionally leader-led

Chief People and Corporate Affairs Officer and chief of staff to the CEO, Katie Hodgson launched the Charter to TWE employees with a video that was shared globally across the business. Katie linked the commitments in the Charter directly to TWE’s values and strategy, and encouraged all team members to role model respectful behaviour.

This call was echoed by other senior leaders, including Angus Lilley, Managing Director of Treasury Collective, who reinforced the message by outlining concrete steps to bring the Charter to life locally.

Uncorking Respect

One of those steps was Uncorking Respect, an interactive workshop that invited employees to explore what respect looks like in practice. The sessions unpacked inclusion, belonging and the impacts of bullying and harassment, while also encouraging people to step up as “upstanders.” Feedback showed that participants valued having practical tools and a safe space to talk openly about workplace behaviour.

To back this up, TWE expanded its Contact Officer program. Once limited to Supply teams, the network of trained volunteers now spans the wider business, providing confidential support for colleagues with concerns regarding workplace behaviour.

A visible commitment

Externally, TWE has proudly showcased its role as a signatory, sharing its commitments on LinkedIn and hosting the Victorian Respect in Drinks Charter launch event. These industry touchpoints signal that the Charter is not just an internal project but part of shaping a safer, more inclusive sector.
