Australian Vintage Limited's 'consistent collaborative & innovative' approach to Supply Chain

Australian Vintage Limited has won the Supply Chain Management award at the Australian Drinks Awards 2021 with winners of the Supplier category at the Awards are chosen via the annual Advantage Trade Engagement Program.

“Significant improvements for Australian Vintage Ltd across the Supply Chain practice with an NF score of 49 + 38. Retailers acknowledge the ‘step up’ in engagement and collaboration Australian Vintage has demonstrated to drive Supply Chain efficiencies and ensure ongoing supply throughout a challenging environment,” observed CEO of Advantage Australia, John McLoughlin.

AVL’s General Manager for Australia and New Zealand, Jeff Howlett, said:

Head of Operations Thomas Jung has worked at Australian Vintage Limited for more than twenty years alongside National Logistics and Customer Service Manager, Tim Green who has been there for 15 years. The business appointed its new site and supply chain manager, Mark Alexander in January this year. Together they lead the supply chain team to distribute some of Australia’s most recognised wines around the globe. 

The Drinks Association has been commissioning Advantage Australia for the past decade to conduct the annual survey, which provides members with favourability ratings and qualitative retailer feedback from the off trade, on premise, wholesale and outlets channels.

Shelly Horton was MC again this year, this time presenting from her new home on the Gold Coast.

Hundreds of people watched as four awards were handed out for Supplier of the Year, Most Improved Supplier, Category Management and Supply Chain.

“A supplier will win the Supply Chain Management award based on the highest Net Favourable result by combining all supply chain measures," explained Advantage Australia's Steve Andrews. 

 “The award recognises excellence in the capabilities and behaviours for managing both short- and longer-term supply complexities in collaboration with retailers and wholesalers, as well as the ability to consistently drive high quality service outcomes and deliverables,” he explained.

The Supply Chain Management Award is sponsored by GS1, in a partnership intended to drive industry standards and improve business and supply chain efficiency in the drinks industry.

"Australian Vintage Limited has won this award because they have demonstrated exceptional skill around the fundamentals of supply chain management as well as an ability to collaborate with partners. Nothing happens in supply chain without collaboration, " said Maria Palazzolo, GS1 Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer.

“As GS1 manages the most widely used suite of global open supply chain standards we are delighted to have the opportunity to support the Supply Chain Management Award."

A recent Deloitte study showed that 79 per cent of companies with high-performing supply chains, achieved above average revenue growth within their industries.

"An efficient supply chain leads to a better customer experience which has a flow-on for sales activity, but also a reduction in claims and other disappointments which can tarnish a business relationship. This keeps costs down and drives improved business performance," said Ms Palazzolo.
